Homemade Chai


I never thought I would find a drink I love more than coffee but... coffee who?!

Chai is warming, grounding and delicious and I promise it will make your whole place smell amazing!

I don't use exact measurements when making my chai so consider this a template and play around with your tastes and preferences as you go. I like mine extra spicy so I use LOTS of ginger and black pepper and tend to go light on the cloves and cardamom. Have fun experimenting with your favorite brew!


Ginger root, sliced

Filtered water


Fill a pot with filtered water and place on the stove. Add to the water: ginger, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom. Bring to a boil. Turn down to low and let simmer for at least an hour. Then turn off the stove and cover the pot with a lid. Let sit overnight or up to 24 hours for best concentration of flavors. 

Drink immediately or store in glass jars in the fridge to savor throughout the week.

Add milk of your choice (I use cashew) and sweetener, if using (I like honey).
