A Warrior of the Light

I often feel like time is flying by and I will never be able to get done all that I want to in a single day, but at this moment time feels as if it has slowed to a halt.

As you're reading this my dad is probably having brain surgery. It has made everything else seem so small. He really is in great hands and we are hopeful for the best possible outcome. Nonetheless, it is scary and I feel extra tender.
The world also feels scary and extra tender. Just trying to vote is a full time job. Health care coverage plans sound like a foreign language. And for some reason I've decided to learn how to make homemade bread on top of it all.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed?
Quite honestly, I've become an expert at distracting myself so I don't have to fully feel the feelings and in order to delay action (hello, homemade bread). This is not always the best coping mechanism, even though sometimes binge watching House of Cards is the perfect cure all, but at some point, action is required.

Call your loved ones.
Say hi to a stranger.
Practice kindness. We all need it and deserve it.
VOTE.
Take care of yourself.
Take care of others.
Be a Warrior of the Light.

Every Warrior of the Light has felt afraid going into battle.
Every Warrior of the Light has, at some time in the past, lied or betrayed someone.
Every Warrior of the Light has trodden a path that was not his.
Every Warrior of the Light has suffered for the most trivial of reasons.
Every Warrior of the Light has, at least once, believed he was not a Warrior of the Light.
Every Warrior of the Light has failed in his spiritual duties.
Every Warrior of the Light has said 'yes' when he wanted to say 'no.'
Every Warrior of the Light has hurt someone he loved.
That is why he is a Warrior of the Light, because he has been through all this and yet has never lost hope of being better than he is.
